Myanmar government’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism issued a statement of travel advisory on December 5, 2019.
An “additional restricted areas for security” include Myauk-Oo in Rakhine State, Paletwa in Chin State, Mogok in Mandalay region. Please see a complete travel advisory at Myanmar government’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
To visit Mogok, you can get a permission from Mandalay region government.
Fighting between Tatmadaw (Army) and armed ethnic group Arakan Army (AA) is ongoing around Myauk-Oo and Kyauk Taw townships. Recently, AA abducted a state level Member of Parliament (MP) and dozens of police force and fire fighters.
A German tourist was killed and an Argentinian woman was wounded by landmine in Sipaw township, Northern Shan State in November, 2019. Traveling in remote areas of Sipaw township is restricted by the government due to intense fighting between various armed ethic groups and the government’s troops.
