A Beautiful "Bungtla" Waterfall

Updated: Sep 20, 2019

Chin State seems too far away from Yangon, but it is not. We were on a road trip, riding a motorbike from Yangon to Magwe which took us about 12 hours. From Magwe to Yaw and Saw roads, the roads were considerably smooth, no bumpy at all.

Then, a rough journey began. It was summer days and the weather was quite nice. As soon as we reached onto Chin hills, a warm weather finally ended, a nice and cold weather began. As we were used to being in warm weather, the cold that brought to us from the top of high mountains hit us like a freezing cold, especially at nights.

The roads from Magwe to Mindat, one of the town located at the beginning of Chin hills. It took us like a 8 hours ride by motorbike. We were a group of 6 adventurers who were eager to document the landscape of a beautiful Chin State.

Bungtla Waterfall is located in Htee Saung village, Matupi Township. In summer, the waterfall attracts domestic tourists and foreigners alike. In rainy season, the townships of Mindat to Matupi roads are considerably rough and the mountain roads are always misty, even in summer.

The whole trip took us about a week including exploring the beauty of Mindat and Matupi townships.
